Welcome Jerusha Mae!

The purpose of this blog is to show case my new doll, "Jasmine at 1 1/2", renamed Jerusha Mae (family names) by Ashton-Drake. We were able to buy her on a payment plan, and had 2 day shipping added to it. It was on time, and it was a joy to look out my door and see the huge box outside my door in early afternoon.

Secondly, this blog will be a place I can share my other dolls (by photo) as well. I may be selling a few dolls soon. I find it silly to store away dolls in their boxes, so when I find that is what is happening, and I am not taking the doll out at all, maybe it is time for me to assess my doll population and down-size.

I know there are some people who don't understand adults who have realistic and "reborn" babies. For me, perhaps it is because I really wanted to be a mother. I always felt a large part of my life would be spent being a mother, but things happen, and we were never able to have children, and were never really in the place to adopt. I had lost a baby by miscarriage and grieved that heavily. The only thing that seemed to relieve that biological clock and urge to have children was getting a puppy. If I'd known how helpful raising and training a dog would be, I'd have done it sooner!

Now, back to Jerusha's arrival:

I laid the box down and put a fleece blanket down on the floor for the doll.

There she is!

Ribbon by ribbon, tape, paper and cardboard, bubblewrap flying, I gently released Jerusha from the box.

She's soft and squeezable!

Her hands are also soft, and flexible! Her nails shine and are tipped in white.

Finally, I get to her head!

After watching several "Reborn Box Openings" on YouTube, I learned you start at the bottom and work up to the head, which is usually covered. Jerusha had paper over her face. Once released from the box, I was finally able to check her out and she how she was put together.
Here she is!
No joints in the shoulders makes things a little difficult, but there is wire down her arms and the instep of her legs to enable bending at the hips, elbows and shoulders (to a point). She has 3/4 legs and 1/2 arms. The turtle neck she is wearing covers the area where her neck attaches to her head, and also where her arms are attached (near the elbows).

I inspect the hair and her little do.
Her hair looks hand done. There isn't a pattern to how the hair is put in (that I can see). She has her hair loosely parted into sections for 6 little ponytails. There is a wide array of scrunchies and pink ribbons in her hair.

She has little white bloomers (no diaper), no shoes or socks, a denim jumper-dress and a whitish turtle neck with snaps at the top of the shoulders.

putting on Jerusha's new socks and shoes.
We had bought a few items for Jerusha, including socks and shoes. The shoes were from Goodwill.

We ended up putting her sandals on her feet. Size 2 was recommended.

Jerusha's new baby doll.

A felt door name plate. The letters and flowers are those sticky foam things.

The little Ty stuffed animals were the perfect size for her.
